In this series, I turned inward, examining the body through self-portraits. As I explored this subject, elements of playfulness began to emerge, shaping the work in unexpected ways. At the time, I was a stay-at-home dad, dealing with financial hardship, which added layers of complexity to my creative process. I repurposed materials—like paper that my mother had rolled up—allowing something to fade away in order to make room for new possibilities.
The drawings became a means of navigating this personal moment. They were both an expression of what I was experiencing and a way of releasing it, letting go of the constraints of the past and making space for transformation. The process itself was therapeutic, offering a way to process emotions and circumstances while engaging in the simple act of creation.
